How it works

AirEx is a smart ventilation control.

Sensors measure temperature, humidity and air quality. Smart algorithms enable automatic air flow regulation, while taking into account local weather and air quality data.

AirEx opens to reduce underfloor humidity, and closes to reduce heat loss and improve your comfort, all without compromising on air quality in the home.

agnes czako

Co-founder, Commercial Lead

Agnes has been a Lead Assessor of an energy advisory organisation since 2011 and is a certified Passivhaus consultant. She has project managed and led the delivery of numerous low-carbon innovation projects, and is currently leading the commerical development of AirEx. She holds a BSc from the University of Budapest and a masters in Interdisciplinary Design for the Built Environment (IDBE) from the University of Cambridge.



will frank-gemmill

Software Engineer

Will has over 10 years’ experience in programming languages and platforms, having worked with large organisations such as General Dental Council London, and previously worked on the development of smart thermostats. He holds a 1st class MEng in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College London.


James Wright

Co-founder, Product Lead

James has strong experience as an industrial designer and leads the technical development of AirEx. He has previously led the delivery of product innovation for various large corporates and design consultancies. He holds a double Masters in Innovation Design Engineering from the Royal College of Art & Imperial College London, and a 1st class BEng in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College London.

Electronics Engineer

Malik’s expertise lies in Electronic circuit/PCB design, prototyping and embedded firmware development, across multiple processors and BLE, wifi and GSM devices. He holds a degree in Electronic Engineering from Brunel University.

Tony Duffin

Tony is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with 30+ years of experience in developing and project managing the on-site installation of low carbon building technologies, particularly in the domestic retrofit sector. He has advised government, banks, large corporate companies and private individuals, and is currently advising the AirEx core team on thermal performance strategy and design reviews.


Dr Sofie Pelsmakers

Sofie is a UK registered and chartered architect (ARB/RIBA) with 15+ years of experience in designing, building and teaching sustainable construction with specialty in low energy, affordable housing.  She holds a part-time Environmental Design lectureship at Sheffield University and is supporting the core team with research design, performance validation.


Dr Conrad spiteri

Conrad is a versatile Technology Management Professional with 15 years experience  in Robotics, Computer Vision and Machine Learning Technologies. He has supported the acceleration of various high-growth tech start-ups in this field. His PhD is in "Planetary Robotic Vision Processing for Terrain Assessment". Conrad supports the AirEx core team with high level strategies on machine learning and data analytics.
