How Together Housing Made Innovation ‘Business-as-Usual’
When you manage over 38,000 homes across Yorkshire and Lancashire, you learn to look beyond quick fixes, says Gemma Voaden, Senior Manager, Net Zero at Together Housing. Delivering retrofit at scale isn’t just about hitting EPC targets, it’s about finding smarter ways to improve comfort, health and energy efficiency for every resident, in every home.
Over the past two years, Together Housing has transformed how it tackles heat loss in older homes. It started with a problem. And like most good stories, it led to a solution that now underpins their entire approach.

Case Study: Warmworks & Warmer Homes Scotland
Through the Warmer Homes Scotland programme, Warmworks has partnered with AirEx to install over 2,400 Floorvent systems in homes across Scotland, helping households reduce draughts, cut heating costs and stay warm through the colder months.
This short film captures the real-world impact of the project, from improved comfort for residents to faster, cleaner installs for local contractors, and highlights how smart, scalable solutions like AirEx are supporting national efforts to tackle fuel poverty.

Case Study: A Warmer, More Energy Efficient Home in the Scottish Borders
How one homeowner used AirEx Floorvent to improve comfort, cut energy use and future-proof his home.
When Michael moved into his 1960s bungalow in the Scottish Borders, he was struck by a common imbalance; the upstairs, a newer dormer extension, stayed warm and comfortable, while the downstairs felt noticeably colder.
“We’ve got these large, well-proportioned rooms on the ground floor, which is great,” Michael explains, “but with suspended floors and old-style air bricks, downstairs was noticeably colder and harder to heat. It was really uncomfortable.”

Broadacres Case Study Webinar
Watch how Broadacres Housing Association is using AirEx to deliver smarter, low-disruption retrofit
In this case study webinar, Eddie Grant, Investment Project Manager at Broadacres, shares how the team has integrated AirEx smart air bricks into their retrofit programme across rural North Yorkshire. Faced with the challenges of traditional underfloor insulation, including access issues, resident disruption and cost, they turned to AirEx as a practical alternative that could be installed quickly, without lifting floors or disturbing tenants.
The result? Improved EPC ratings, reduced heat loss and positive feedback from residents. With gains of up to 6 SAP points, Broadacres now considers AirEx a core part of its WH:SHF strategy, and a scalable solution for the future.
